E.C.C., 1934

This is my grandfather Everett C. in 1934. They aren't quite big pants, but you can see the family resemblance. Both he and my grandmother were born in Tennessee, but this was taken somewhere in California's San Joaquin Valley, where they met after both their families moved west during that whole Great Depression thing.

I should explain my philosophy about family pictures: old people are decrepit-looking. Nobody wants to see a picture of your 58-year-old mom. I'm sure she's a dear. Web surfers want to see if she was a babe when she was 18. As you can see, my grandfather was a regular chick magnet. And I'm sure he'd like to be remembered that way.

I also want to know where he got those shoes.

Errata: turns out he was born in Coalinga after they came out the first time, just before they moved back to Tennessee and then back to California again. They were still trying to make the old family farm work or something. It didn't. Think "Grapes of Wrath" here.

This is all on the test.
